Winner of the 2009 Thelonious Monk Competition, bassist Ben Williams is a forward-thinking musician who effortlessly glides through straight-ahead, funk, and gospel-influenced jazz. A graduate of the Duke Ellington School of Music and Michigan State University, Williams has performed with a who’s who of jazz, among them Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Mulgrew Miller, and Terence Blanchard.
