Join the Bellingham Roller Betties as they continue their 2009 roller derby bout season, with “Derby Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” on Saturday May 30th at the Sportsplex located at 1225 Civic Field Way in Bellingham with the doors opening at 4pm and the bout beginning at 5pm. This double-header event will feature the Bellingham Roller Betties Travel Team against Everett’s Jet City Bombers and two Bellingham Roller Betties fantasy teams: “Rock ‘n Roll” vs. “Metal.”

An exciting all-ages event for the whole family to enjoy, watch the heart-stopping action of all women flat track roller derby while enjoying food provided by Mount Bakery and Neiner Neiner Weiner. Check out the halftime show entertainment provided by Bellingham band Sugar Sugar Sugar. For adults over 21, a beer garden at the edge of the track provides excellent seating and the convenience of enjoying local Boundary Bay Beer on tap as you watch the roller skating action.

One of the goals of the Bellingham Roller Betties is to actively benefit the community that supports their derby league, both on and off the track. As a registered non-profit organization, the Betties strive to support other non-profit organizations that are working to help our community thrive. A portion of the proceeds from the May 30th bout will be donated to the local charity Bikers Against Cancer.

By partnering with Sustainable Connections and Sanitary Services Company, the Bellingham Roller Betties will participate in the Toward Zero Waste challenge for the entire 2009 season. Tickets will be available for pre-sale at these Bellingham locations: The Community Food Co-op (Downtown and Cordata Locations), Eklectic Salon, Merch Bot, Old School Tattoo, The Paper Doll, The Lettered Streets Coffee House, Casa Que Pasa, and The Sportsplex. Pre-sale tickets cost $10. At the door, adult tickets are $12, students and seniors are $10, derby girls with USARS are $8, children under 10 are $5, and children under 3 are free.
