BACKGROUND:
The mission of Behind the Book is to excite children and young adults about reading. Working with low-income students in NYC public schools, we bring authors and their books into individual classrooms to build literacy skills and cultivate a new generation of book readers.

Behind the Book is the only nonprofit organization in New York City motivating children and young adults to read through a program of book donations and author visits connected to classroom curriculum.
