Chilwell Road
Beeston, England NG9 1

Members of the British Legion joined the Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor Pat Lally to raise a specially commissioned Armed Forces Day Flag on the town’s central flag pole earlier this week.

Cllr Lally addressed the crowds in Beeston Square to raise the flag in honour of the contributions of all those who serve or have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

At the same moment, local authorities and over 3,000 members of the public, businesses and schools throughout the country raised their flags to honour our servicemen and women.

Armed Forces Day flags will also be flown where British servicemen and women are serving overseas, including Afghanistan, Cyprus, Germany, Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands.

The title 'Armed Forces Day' has been chosen to reflect the wider Armed Forces family of serving personnel – both regular and reserve, as well as our veterans, cadet forces and the service families.

The second British Armed Forces Day will take place on Saturday 26 June to honour the British Armed Forces of past, present and future. The day is an annual opportunity for the nation to Show Support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces
community.

Across the country people are getting involved: communities are holding local events and businesses are showing their support. For more information visit the website at
