BECAUSE offers workshop programming that allows attendees to examine their social and cultural identities. We believe it is important to foster personal identity development and growth to teach those within queer communities to be better allies to one another, as well as to teach straight allies how to be better allies to all members of the queer community. In creating safer spaces for self-expression of cultural and social identities, attendees will have the opportunity to learn and talk about systems of oppression, resistance to biphobia and monosexism, and prideful expressions of bisexual and other multisexual identities. If you are interested in presenting a workshop, you can find more information and proposal forms on our website. Workshop proposals are due March 19th to [email protected].

Conference attendees will find an exciting and packed weekend of social and educational programming, including keynote speaker Amy André. Amy is a writer, activist and is the current Executive Director of San Francisco Pride. Amy will be address health issues facing bisexual communities. In addition to workshops on Saturday, there will be a conference wide panel titled It’s Time: Perspectives on Bisexuality Past, Present and Future. The panel will be comprised of current and past bisexual activists and allies from across the nation discussing bisexuality, the bisexual identity and bisexual movements. Later Friday evening, we will have our annual Drag Show/Cabaret event. Interested in performing? Email us!

Please see our website for continual updates on important details about registration and exciting information about our workshops and entertainment. We especially encourage you to take a look at our Commitment to a Safer Conference statement to ensure all attendees will be able to participate fully in the conference.

Please forward this email and post our flyer to help us get the word out to your communities about BECAUSE 2010.

We hope you will join us for this important and exciting event!

Thank you,
