WVSA ARTs connection Present
“Beauty is in the eye…”

WVSA’s ARTist Apprentices are taking the cliché ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ and exploring what that means. With partners CVS Caremark and VSA, the artists are able to express what brings beauty to their world. Whether it’s their families, cultural beauty, or simply their furry friend, the artists are asking the age-old question – what is beautiful?

The ARTiculate Employment Training and Outreach is a program of WVSA ARTs connection, where youth with special needs, special talents and special skills get an opportunity to express themselves through the arts. Whether it is creating original artwork or working in the gallery, those who participate in the program receive supplemental education services that provide school to community transitional services.

The ARTiculate Gallery is a contemporary art gallery and program of WVSA that showcases the works of the ARTist Apprentices working in the studios. The gallery is a unique and accessible downtown venue, providing creative environments, opportunities, and experiences to connect WVSA ARTist Apprentices to the local DC art community.

The Gallery and Artist Reception will take place from 5:30-7:30pm on Thursday June 11, 2009 and will include live entertainment, refreshments and fantastic artwork. All artwork will be available for post-event viewing and purchase. WVSA is located at the corner of 16th and L Street NW, and the gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.wvsarts.org.
