Featuring a unique mix of more than 25 emerging and established artists from across the US, Beautiful Dreamer highlights the growing trend of artists revealing truths about everyday life through escape into the fantastic, the ambiguous, the obscure, and the fanciful. Curator Gibson delves into the historical roots of romanticism to explain its current prevalence in contemporary art and the many forms it takes. Artists included are Craig Kucia, Tara Giannini, Michelle DiCello, Marcella Hackbardt, and Tim Rollins among many others. The SPACES exhibition kicks off Dreamweaver: The Science and Culture of Escape, Fantasy and Reverie, a multi-disciplinary series of events produced by the Cleveland Institute of Art, running through May 2006.
