Description

We are happy to bring another heavy-hitting eclectic roster of artists for our next installment of Beat Church on February 2nd in S.F. The club has been upgrading equipment and renovating recently to add to what we have to offer in the sonic realm. We will also be starting to feature some of our communities visual art for this next one as well. Featured music guests are:

SUGARPILL (Headtron, LA.)

Specializing in bouncing bass, sideways beats and sweet melodies, Sugarpill is a master of both the creation and delivery of polytemponic glitch bass. Residing in Los Angeles yet living in a twisted world of sound, this young artist stays dosed to the eyelids in chopped-up samples, meticulously tweaked beats and obese waves of bass.
Sugarpill seamlessly merges his techy sensibility and immaculate production skills without ever losing the inherent sexiness of the beats, and this multidimensional musical approach unites EDM fans across a vast spectrum of genres. His original tracks combined with explosive live sets confirm for the producer a powerful spot at the forefront of West Coast future sound. Crossing genres effortlessly and employing a rich variety of styles, his lively and intense sound is best described as a party- and that is exactly what Sugarpill brings to the dance floor.

SHARPS (Vancouver, Canada)

Sharps is a dj and producer from west coast Canada who makes bass music, dubstep, glitch, reggaeton, and all forms of crunkin dance beats.

Sharps began writing beats over a decade ago, originally inspired by the raves and IDM of the time, and cut his teeth DJ ing and producing in his hometown of Edmonton AB. Rooted in a belief in the underground bass music and cutting edge culture, he broke onto the international scene with bomb tracks like Nightwork, Girl Sweat and his remix of Ginuwine’s Pony.

Top-shelf production tactics continue to propel him forward, and lately he’s been privileged to share the stage with Tipper, Freq Nasty, Vibesquad and Kraddy. In 2010 he joined forces with the glitch/bass imprint, Muti Music for his release of Bad Sister - a four track EP of hard hitting bass tunes that cracked the charts on beatport, addictech and beyond. He continues to manage his own label, Saedos Records, where he most recently released the Tropical Bass EP, pushing a new sound that fuses west coast bass with latino dembow riddims.

When not in the studio creating bangers, he enjoys dropping sets on sweaty dancefloors, blending colourful mixes of his originals with remixes and edits from across the spectrum of quality dance music heavy on the dubstep, breakbeat and complex end. Sharps currently resides in Vancouver, BC. This is one of the most talented bass music producers out there and Beat Church is very happy to have him bump for us. If you haven't heard his sick production before, now is your chance.

Andrew the Pirate (Raindance, Santa Cruz)

Andrew has been doing the do for about 4 years now. Originally a part of the Dub Pirates, he has, in the last little while, ventured out on his own. Now, he plays shows all over the place, sharing bills with some of the biggest names in bass music. He also hosts a future bass monthly in Santa Cruz called Space Bass with Raindance's Little John. Andrew is blown away (and, perhaps, flabbergasted?) by the amazing music, art, events, vibrations and PEOPLE that he is surrounded by at all times, and feels majorly blessed to take part in it all. So, keep your eye out for this guy at festivals and events this summer- he'll probably be in the back of the crowd in a cloud of smoke.. OR up in front, behind the decks! baBOOM!

Wala is an up-and-coming producer, making sexy Indian-inspired beats. Since the age of 6, WALA has been making music and experimenting with sound design. Having been inspired by her time living abroad in both India and Israel, her music infuses Indian percussion, heavy bass; all with glitched out middle eastern sounds. She has shared the stage with artists like ill.Gates, Marty Party, Minnesota, NastyNasty, Ben Samples, ill-Esha, Gladkill, Sub Swara, R/D, Chris B., Mr. Rogers, Bogl, and many others. WALA is known for her high energy performances that always get crowds dancing! Keep an eye out for this little purple-haired producer!
