how? where? when? do you get tickets?

Jae_Attack

So many awesome bands are going to play. It is going to be off the hook. Anyone know where to get tickets at?

kayla.princess

I am so there. Just need to buy the tickets.

Jae_Attack

just got mine. ecxited.

noomoo

great lineup - well thought out

Looms

Wow. That has got to be the worst show lineup ever. Except for The Clipse & Sa-ra.
Yuppie central.

dorkfish

according to an internet guy, Deerhoof, Spank Rock, Camera Obscura, and Living Legends are going to be added. WHOA GRAIN OF SALT.

mrgn

$27.50 plus $5 service fee.. not too shabby!

Looms

Alredy saw Explosions In The Sky & wasn't inmpressed. This lineup looks like someone read a 2003 issue of The Fader & booked anyone who looked hipster-ish.

noomoo

looms - for someone who looks as if they are going to no shows and maybe has come on here to throw hate around - opinions seems a little bit off and uneducated.

as for explosions - chills....this is my fave.

Looms

I understand the importance of having a good festival, and it's been far too long since San Francisco (or anywhere in northern california) has had a proper one, so props on whoever put this show together, I hope it's the start of great things to come.
But the lineup just sounds too safe & predictable. It looks like an Ipod commercial playlist. I understand that when booking a show you kinda have to take what you can get, but why get Sage Francis when you have The Coup right in your backyard, Explosions in the sky when you could also get Neurosis or Red Sparowes? Rock & Hip Hop should be dangerous, loud & unapologetic, which is what none of these acts are. The whole thing just seems a little too safe for something called The Riot.
And noomoo, I go to shows every week. Sure I guess I'm hating, but I've been hearing about this show for awhile now & I guess I'm just a little dissapointed with the lineup.

danimarmar

a san francisco treat!

lineup is good period. girl talk will be there half naked. theyve added zion-i, living legends and deerhoof

WORD ON THE STREET IS THAT DIPLO CANCELLED AND ONE OF THE "MORE WELL-KNOWN" GROUPS ON THE BILL BROKE UP.....HMMMMM

imblue

just picked up tickets at streetlight. the service charge is cheaper at the stores btw

sucks about diplo - but this lineup in this city for that price is just ... mm mm good. still got GIRL TALK !

blastyojaw

Hey Looms, The Coup plays in the Bay all the time, so why would it be a good idea to put them on the bill in place of Sage Francis or Saul Williams? Personally, I'd rather see acts that are not from the Bay. I was actually considering going to this until I saw Jeffrodisiac and Richie Panic on the flyer. haha sounds kinda dumb, but that really did affect my decision on going to this thing. I think the biggest downfall of this thing is that there is no headliner. The tickets are cheap though, so whatevahs. party!

cheriepark

i spoke to some of the dudes who conceptualized this event and they are definately coming from a homegrown san francisco labor of love vibe.

i would say that this lineup is the BEST to come to san francisco in god knows how long. they said that with what they were working with - if they booked a huge headliner it would have not allowed them to put together such a large offering of music. they were coool cats and i thinks its rad that they are engaging so many diff parts of the community - from huf to distortion 2 static to the frisco disco guys.

i asked them why they put them on the flier and they said WHYNOT? i guess they are all buds.

dont let that affect your deciosn or you wil be missing out on a epic bill and one of the best hip hop lineups ive seen.

cheriepark

and i agree - tickets are very patron friendly. you really arent going to get cheaper than that for something huge like this these days

fivefour

these guys have a nice ezine/community going on their main website.

emerie

"Afrika Bambaataa"

lhl

I'm gonna be out of town, otherwise I'd definitely be there. Sage Francis was great when I saw him at Coachella a couple of years ago (and I'm with noomoo, Explosions In the Sky were spellbinding when I saw them at the Knitting Factory).

Metric, The Wrens, Breakestra, Deerhoof? For $30? How can you lose?

DANG. I was right! DIPLO did cancel (and its messed up that he's still on most of the flyer, wack) and seems like SA-RA isn't on the bill either! They were the "more well-known" band that had rumors of a breakup.....hmmmmmm
shady promotions???

cheriepark

diplo isnt on the new fliers and posters that i saw. the fliers were printed a longtime ago. at big festivals - this stuff always happens. how could they magically erase diplo off the thousands of fliers they already printed

they have not announced a couple of bands whom i know are playing. i can tell you that the guys ive met who are part of this show are sweet.

btw - get your facts straight before you post. SA-RA is still playing the show and they didnt break up. They just lost one member.

They will be playing with a full band - same set up they did at lollapalooza

waymellow

Be warned, there will be no in and outs. Be prepared for a long day trapped in the civic. I'm still pumped though, this is going to be good.

kewlio

dont they setup those smoking areas with barriers? but yeah, u dont really leave

dobodillo

excited for girl talk. missed him at cmj but he was the talk of the town.

black biscuit

geeez....no ins and outs.....Im getting bad vibes from these folks. and I still see diplo on the new promotional shit!!
Im skeptic about sa-ra, no matter what this cheriepark says.....theyre hugging major riottt nuts!

ianmcburnie

Not too happy about the no ins and outs. Is this true? Where does it say this? What about food? :-(

kewlio

hot dogs and pizzas served in there :-/

HELLO FOLKS! this is straight from the horses mouth, i am one of the people behind this labor of love. first off..id like to thank those who have supported us and appreciate the cultural diversity that will be showcased at this event. its been a HUGE labor of love - we arent a fuckin clearchannel that homegenizes our music scene.

this is a for the people by the people festival. i cannot tell you how much we have worked to get to this point and it means EVERYTHING to us that we have gotten such beyond amazing feedback not only locally but nationaly. once again we thank you.

now i want to address some of the slander by black biscuit who seems to be on here just to throw around some negative energy. look sir- because im a real cat - im not going to sugarcoat anything because we arent some corporate fucks who are trying to play politics.

straight up- if you dont know anything then dont say anything. your whining detects a bitch on our radar.

you are trying to put down something that you cant stop.

sa-ra is playing and as far as diplo goes we printed all the materials 1 month ago so there is nothing we oculd do about that. check the website - hes not there....and oh by the way - diplo loves what we are doing and thinks its "hot" - read up.

but no kidding aside - when i read your comments it makes me angry because you are speaking clouds of smoke and its plain and simply not fair that our integrity and countless hours be challenged by a non informed fuck like yourself...

as far as the in and outs - we have no control over this. this is the VENUES policy and our opinion means shit to them. sorry about that folks - however there will be food, drink, alcohol, and smiles running rampid.

just look at the lineup - every artist is genuinely excited to play this show for the people and LOVE the concept. if you have questions - google us and listen to what people are saying.

no music festivals have ins and outs, i would say thats pretty standard and there are a million reasons that venues enforce those rules.

anyhow - good people....come. listen to amazing music from amazing musicians and enjoy each others company. truth be told this has been a huge labor of love on so many levels and we hope you all enjoy your stay.

until then - cheers

xoxo

In the end, after all the drama here, this was an awesome festival, especially given the price. The security presence was nice and minimal and I got to see a ton of great sets. Explosions were mesmerizing, Asobi Sesku was awesome, the Rapture played a high enegry set to a dwindling audience. I had a great time and hope to see more events like this.

cheriepark

i totally agree. through it all - i dont remember i time in the bay area where i saw so much good music enjoyed the crowds company.

i had the pleasure to meet sean miyashiro who put together the festival. hes a sweet dude and suprisingly very young. talented! i look forward to more from their collective.

kudos
