BCSWomen is very fortunate in having as its hosts for the tour three figures who have made significant contributions:-
Tony Sale, Director of the Colossus rebuild programme.
John Harper, Director of the Bombe rebuild
Jean Rooke – a Bletchley Park war veteran who will be able to tell you about the until recently, poorly recognised role of women in this important war effort.
This is a rare opportunity to see and to hear about these exceptional technical innovations from authoritative experts.
Spaces are limited, and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
The cost includes:
· refreshments on arrival,
· a buffet lunch of hot marinated chicken in tarragon sauce with chocolate profiteroles for dessert,
· and refreshments at the end of the tour.
Please note that there is a car parking charge of £3 at the venue.
The Schedule
10:00-10:30 – Registration and Coffee
10:30-12:00 The visit programme will commence with an introductory talk by Tony Sale, followed by an external tour of the Park including the famous Huts.
12:00-12:10 A sponsor will give a short talk about their involvement and hand over a cheque to The Bletchley Park Trust Director, Simon Greenish.
12:10-13:15 Lunch
13:15- 14:45 The tour will move on to Colossus and its role in cracking Lorenz (the German High Command’s code during the war), and a demonstration of the reconstructed Bombe, which was instrumental in cracking the various Enigma codes used by the German armed forces.
14:45-16:00 The tour will then move to the see the National Computer Museum displays led by the Computer Conservation Specialist group.
16:00-16:30 Networking and Tea in the Mansion. The visit will end at around 16:30, after which delegates will be free to view other exhibits in the expanding exhibitions at the Park.
