Bilinguals Inc./Achieve Beyond is proud to host this exciting BCBA CEU event

Teaching teachers applied behavior analysis with applied behavior analysis.
We practice what we preach! Earn 3 Type 2 CEUs with completion of this course.
Stroll the streets of The Flatiron District following this exciting, half day CEU event.
flatironbid.org This unique workshop highlights the work of 3 scientist practitioners.
Each of our presenters is a certified special educator, Board Certified Behavior Analyst,
staff trainer, family trainer and mentor to many teachers, teaching assistants and
graduate students. Each is equally trained in enhancing the lives of the people they
work with as they are in conducting empirical research about these procedures. Our
presentations will focus on teaching others the importance of using behavior analysis
to teach better. Each of these topics is based on evidence based procedures that
have significance for the students each of our presenters works with.

Presentation 1: The Effectiveness of Teacher Training Protocol on Behavior Analytic Instructional Repertoires
Finding an effective means of training ABA Special Education Itinerant Teachers (SEITs) to acquire behavior analytic skills is significant as SEITs have limited access to regular supervision while in the field. This presentation reviews procedures used with SEITs that taught them to utilize the verbal behavior of the science when describing visual display and to complete strategic analyses of learning problems. Teachers were presented with consequences for correct use of the verbal behavior of the science in describing visual display as well as consequences for instructional decisions made based on an analysis protocol (Greer, 2002). The results suggest that teaching these repertoires can be done in a short period of time with successful results for both teachers and students.

Presentation 2: The Use of the VM MAPP for Transition planning.
Assisting families in deciding what type of educational setting their child needs can be a difficult process. The VB MAPP includes components with quantifiable information for transition planning and change of placement. This assessment tool includes 18 areas such as classroom routines, social behavior/social play, independent work on academic tasks, learning patterns, reinforcers, retention of skills, as well as eating and toileting. Because the VB MAPP focuses on rate of skill acquisition and learning patterns, it’s a great tool for outlining what is expected of students in particular settings. How to use the information gathered from the Transition Assessment with families and school administrators will be discussed.
Presentation 3: The Acquisition of Functional Analysis Methodology Using Video Modeling and a Data Analysis Review Procedure
The purpose of the procedures used and discussed in this presentation examine the effectiveness of video modeling, followed by a data analysis treatment package on the acquisition of Functional Analysis (FA) methodology by classroom staff. Challenges of classroom staff acquiring FA methodology have included efficiently and effectively training teachers to implement functional analyses within the classroom while also selecting appropriate function-based treatments to address problem behaviors. Teachers were taught to conduct FA’s and select effective tactics for addressing problem behavior through video modeling in conjunction with data analysis procedures. Results are presented in terms of FA methodology, its efficiency in training and subsequent effect on student behavior.

Who is the workshop good for?
Teachers, administrators, clinicians and/or behavior analysts working with children
who receive behavior analytic services.
