BCA Continues Celebrating Diversity at 16th Annual Cultural Awareness Salute at Black Tie Gala hosted in NYC
TV-Fox 5 Ines Rosales will be Mistress of Ceremonies introducing some of most influential professionals, restaurant owners, students and educators at the BCA 16th Annual Cultural Awareness Salute being held Saturday March 14th 2009 from 7PM-11PM at the Marriott Marquis in NYC. Following the cocktail reception will be a four course planned menu which will have inspiration of Latin, Creole, Asian, and Native American cuisine. This special event provides a key milestone for the BCA as it continues to explore culinary and cultural excellence, offering a networking platform for young people, and encourage the food industry to create opportunities for People of Color (Asian Americans, Native Americans, Latinos, and Blacks) to the highest career potential.

Award recipients include Exec Chef Yeni Chacon Accor Hospitality Jefferson Evans Award, James Lewis Award presented to Joe Crosby CEO Coach Low Country Brands, Chairman's Award presented to Restaurant Associates of Compass Group Industry Award to Milford Prewitt Former Senior Editor Nations Restaurant News Presented by Michael Lomonaco and Heritage Award presented to Jimmie Walton Paschall Senior VP Global Diversity Marriott International and Lifetime Ambassador Award presented to JoAnn Baylor CEO Make My Cake

Entitled “Culinary, Hospitality and Diversity Excellence” the event provides a glimpse of the future with a four course meal and wine pairing prepared by students from Johnson & Wales University, South Bronx Job Corps Academy, Monroe College, Hudson County Community College, Foodservice Training Academy, Hospitality Management High School’s Culinary Arts Program, Career Academy of NY and LI, Culinary Training Institute, Newark Vocational High School, the Academy of Vocational Careers, Brooklyn Job Corps Culinary Program, the University of North Texas, and the Culinary Institute of America. “This is the one time of year when students come together in the same kitchen and cook in a non-competitive environment,” said Alex Askew, President of BCA. “Guests will be amazed by their culinary execution.”
