Bayview's 2010 National Night Out Against Crime August 3, 2010

You are invited to attend the most important community and neighborhood event of the year: National Night Out Against Crime in the Bayview, Tuesday August 3, 2010 from 4pm to 8pm at the Bayview Opera House and Mendell Plaza.

National Night Out, a year long community building campaign, is designed to: (1) Heighten crime prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participate in, local anti-crime programs; (3) St...rengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Most cities and towns celebrate National Night Out with a variety of special citywide and neighborhood events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, festivals, visits from local officials and law enforcement. While the one night is certainly not an answer to crime, drugs and violence, National Night Out does represent the kind of spirit, energy and determination that is helping to make neighborhoods safer places throughout the year.

Come out and join us as we will have plenty of live entertainment featuring Mazacote, the renowned Latin Salsa group and The Reed Fromer Trio and more. The event will be hosted by comedian, activist and radio personality Donald Lacy.
