On Friday, June 13, V21 Productions, Battle Scars and Hi-Fi Click are proud to present a fundraiser for Triangle-area resident Gay Antoinette, who is recovering from a second bout with brain cancer.

Gay has dedicated her career and her passion to health care and to the care of underrepresented members of our population. She works with both children and adults who are coping with a range of disabilities. Gay also works part-time caring for our aging population as a nurse in a nursing home. She is an active member of Second Baptist Church and has dedicated herself to a life of service, always looking for ways to help others.

Since her husband became injured and unable to work, she has been the sole earner in her household. She is the mother of one teenage daughter and one pre-teen son.

Seven years ago, Gay underwent testing which disclosed the presence of a brain tumor, leading to surgery to remove the tumor. She had remained tumor-free until just before Christmas of 2007. This is when Gay learned that not only one tumor had returned, but that two required removal, along with her pituitary gland. When Gay announced this news, her greatest concern was not for her own health, but how her children would cope with the news and how she would continue to provide for her family.

We have an outstanding night of entertainment planned, featuring artists and entertainers who will donate their time to support a worthy cause.

The show will feature:

• Comedian Big A (http://www.myspace.com/iambiga), who will emcee this charity event. When he's not on the road, Big A performs regularly at Comedy Worx and Goodnight's in Raleigh, and has recently opened for Josh Blue, Tim Wilson and Victoria Jackson.

• Nashville, TN-based trip/hop outfit Fleau (http://www.fleaumusic.com), which boasts more than 100,000 views on sites like myspace and mp3.com. Think along the lines of Portishead, but with more structure – Fleau delivers a blend of exotic, down-tempo hip hop beats; keyboards, layered with ethereal sound effects; and breathy, jazz-inflected vocals.

• Sam Fisher (http://www.samsongs.com) One can clearly make out the stylings of such soul wonders as Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield in Sam’s smooth, liquid crooning, and his effortlessly powerful, emotive voice and vast range could easily be compared to modern icons the likes of Lenny Kravitz or Seal. Sam has shared the stage with such acclaimed artists as John Mayer, Josh Kelly, Nelly Furtado, Edwin McCain, Gavin Degraw, and Marc Broussard.

• Alisa Turner (http://www.myspace.com/alisaturner), a red-hot pianist/songwriter from Raleigh, NC. Alisa's undying passion for writing and performing sparked a friendship with Robbie Seay of The Robbie Seay Band (EMI CMG). From October 2005 to February 2006, Alisa and Robbie (along with his band) recorded a new 8 song EP. It is a remarkable blend of Fiona Apple, Sarah McLachlan, Leigh Nash and other eloquent songstress. With the EP already generating major buzz among top labels and record execs, you are sure to hear exciting things about Alisa in the near future.

• Jonathan McCarthy (http://virb.com/jonathanmccarthy). Jonathan McCarthy released his debut EP in September of 2007. After his release he has been featured on various indie sites such as "indie-music.com" being a featured artist of October 2007, and climbing the pop charts where two of his songs were at #1 and #2 for over a month. McCarthy's influences in music definitely reflect a European Rock/Pop sound, however he definitely brings an original sound to the table.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the benefit show will begin at 7. A $10 minimum donation will be asked of all in attendance, and for those who cannot make it but wish to support the Antoinette family, please visit http://www.battlescarsonline.com.

Vintage21 is an all-ages, non-smoking venue, and this will be a seated, general-admission show. For a map to V21, click the link below.
