Battle of the Bones III BBQ & MicroBrew Competition October 24, 2008

A Barbecue and MicroBrew Competition, plus a Gaming Tournament! The regions biggest All-In-One Event takes over the Jackson County Fairgrounds one week before Halloween!

The City of Central Point, is proud to sponsor Battle of the Bones III. The Jackson County Fairgrounds will be ground-zero for the most coveted title in local barbecue fame: The Battle of the Bones Grand Champion! The many awards for this three day taste-athon includes thousands of dollars in cash and prizes!

Three days, four different flavors! First day, Friday October 24th, the opening ceremony starts the day off with the “THE WHARF'S SEAFOOD SMACKDOWN!” Both locally and regionally based barbecue chefs will compete for your favor with their most succulent shrimp and oyster recipes.

The Second day...The rooster crows, and it’s an early Saturday morning, October 25th, complete with the smell of sizzlin’ sausage. The first Battle of the day starts with the “SAUSAGE SHOOTOUT,” sponsored by TAYLORS SAUSAGE OF CAVE JUNCTION. And then later, cast your vote for the winners in the “CHICKEN CHALLENGE” sponsored by FOSTER FARMS CHICKEN.

The Third day, and we're saving the best for last, Sunday, October 26th, is the real meat of the event... it’s "THE PAINTED HILLS ALL NATURAL BEEF BATTLE!" Now imagine high-quality meat prepared for competition by the regions best...and you and your family play a part in selecting the winners of the event! If that’s not worth the price of admission, you’re a vegan!

The Battle of Bones ticket provides enough “BBQ Tasting Tickets” to be used by each patron to sample many of the competitors entries, and one “Voting Chip” per event for determining the winner. This system urges the barbecue teams to do their best to win that very important Voting Chip. Patrons are encouraged to judge on flavor, character, and overall presentation.

In addition, Battle of the Bones III will feature live music and a blockbuster "GAMING TOURNAMENT" featuring role playing games, shooters, racers, and other popular games!

Kids activities include face-painting, bouncy castles, etc.... This premier food event is the result of a partnership between local sponsors and community leaders. The Battle of the Bones sponsored by the City of Central Point is a signature event, and one of this years most compelling local attractions! The meat of each day’s competitions is donated by The Wharf Restaurant, Taylors Sausage of Cave Junction, Foster Farms, and Painted Hills to the non-profit Parks & Recreation Foundation of Central Point.
