BATS' SUMMER IMPROV FESTIVAL

BATS Improv presents it's 17th Annual Summer Improv Festival. Running Fridays & Saturdays from Aug 5 to Sept. 3, this year's festival features 10 unique, and completely improvised shows in just five weeks. Opening night features improv legend and special guest, Keith Johnstone, directing his elimination format, "Micetro". Other Festival highlights include the SF vs. LA Theatresports Grudge Match, the world premiere of "Epic Romance", and special guests True Fiction Magazine.

Aug. 5 - Miceto directed by Keith Johnstone
Improv legend Kieth Johnstone directs the BATS Company in this winner-take-all, elimination competition.

Aug. 6 - The Lifegame
Audience Members are interviewed and their stories become the basis for compelling and hilarious theatre.

Aug. 12 - Super Scene
Five stories begin, but only one will become the "Super Scene"

Aug. 13 - Elvis Musical
Songs, dancing, girls, and a tissue-thin plot - complete with a live 3-piece rock band!

Aug. 19 - Epic Romance
A sweeping, completely improvised "film" in the style of Gone With The Wind and Doctor Zhivago.

Aug. 20 - Double Feature
A cast of four talented improvisers (and one musician) spontaneously create two distinct stories...each story inspired by an audience supplied title.

Aug. 26 - BATS Presents: True Fiction Magazine
Internationally-acclaimed, True Fiction returns for a nights of Crime! Romance! and Danger!

Aug. 27 - SF vs. LA Theatresports Grudge Match
The winners of this year's Battle of the Bay tournament represent San Francisco against our dreaded rivals from down south - LA's Impro Theatre.

Sept. 2 - Warp Speed
An improvised salute to that classic sci-fi tv series of the 60s.

Sept. 3 - Improvised Bond
Money, women and power - shaken, not stirred - all completely improvised!

Everything at BATS is always completely improvised and no two shows are ever the same. Voted "Best Theatre Co.", "Best 1st Date Spot", "Best Comedy".
