Basingstoke Armed Forces Day Veterans Badge Presentation June 22, 2009

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council will be holding its first Armed Forces Day flag raising ceremony at the Civic Offices on Monday 22 June at 10.30am.

Local veterans from all the services have been invited to attend this event organised in partnership with the Royal British Legion.

The ceremony will include the raising of the flag. The Mayor Cllr Brian Gurden will then, in order to recognise the 65th anniversary of the Normandy Landings, present a number of Basingstoke and Deane D Day veterans with a commemorative medal struck especially for the occasion.

Other Veterans who have requested it will also be presented with their Veterans’ badges by the Mayor.
