Memphis baseball coach Daron Schoenrock announced today that the baseball program will host its annual Alumni/Bullpen Club Golf Tournament on Sat., Nov. 4 at the Plantation Golf Club in Olive Branch, Miss. The tournament will be held in conjunction with the Memphis-Southern Miss football game on Sun., Nov. 5. Former Tiger standout and 2006 Major League Rookie of the Year candidate Dan Uggla will be in attendance.

Cost for the four-man scramble is $300 per team. There will be an 8 a.m. shotgun start and door prizes and raffles will be given away, as well as prizes for the top three longest drives and shots closest to pin. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

"I am excited with the increased interest pro scouts have shown in our program," said Schoenrock. "Interest has more than doubled from last year's Scout Day which reflects on the respect our program is gaining from the professionals."

Uggla lettered at Memphis from 1999-2001 before being selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 11th round of the 2001 Major League Draft. The Columbia, Tenn. native was the lone rookie to make this year's Major League Baseball All-Star Game and is one of the top candidates for the 2006 National League Rookie of the Year Award. Uggla is just one of four Major Leaguers in the last 50 years to hit more than 20 homers and drive in more than 75 runs in their rookie season. The other three are Frank Robinson, Orlando Cepada and Albert Pujols.
