Barry Adamson's career spans three decades, membership in seminal bands Magazine and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and several intense film scores for renowned directors of the likes of David Lynch and Oliver Stone. Named after the Manchester neighbourhood where he grew up, his first album as a solo artist, Moss Side Story, tracked his life to date in swirling sound punctuated with samples, saxophones and fragments of voices. Adamson went on to create dark and gritty music for films like Lost Highway, Natural Born Killers and The Beach.

In this unique performance, Adamson premieres the entirety of his hotly anticipated new album with a full backing band, as well as performing favourite tracks from his back catalogue. The new album, heavily influenced by jazz, soul and blues, is not due for release until 2008.

Support comes from saxophonist Matana Roberts' Quartet, whose debut album is released on Adamson's Central Control label and recorded with bassist Josh Abrams (Town and Country), guitarist Jeff Parker (Tortoise, Chicago Underground Trio) and drummer Frank Rosaly (Ken Vandermark's Crisis Ensemble).
