The Vancouver Chamber Choir and CBC Radio Orchestra open the new concert season with a mini-festival of great 18th century music to celebrate the Baroque masters Bach and Handel. Conducted by Artistic Director Jon Washburn, the ensembles perform all four of Handel’s Coronation Anthems (Zadok the Priest, Let thy hand be strengthened, My heart is inditing and The king shall Rejoice) - stirring cantatas used during the Westminster Abbey ceremonies for the crowning of George II in 1727. As a bonus, special guest artists Lorna McGhee (flute), Joan Blackman (violin) and Linda Lee Thomas (harpsichord) join the orchestra for Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No.5.
