The music of Barn Owl is characterised by its fluidity and its gravitas. The San Francisco duo chart the peaks and troughs of the American Mid-west through the scorched psychedelic textures of their minimalist guitars. Describing tumultuous mountain-scapes and rolling, barren plains untouched by man, Barn Owl take the listener through a somnambulistic journey of a great forgotten land, one in which man was still utterly at the mercy of nature. Their recent release 'Lost In The Glare' (Thrill Jockey) sees them refracting from the heavy dronology of their earlier works, bringing the delicate, blood-tinged Americana roots to the fore with a spectral flair and altruistic dedication.
