Barbara Carroll's Sunday Jazz Brunch February 15, 2009

Barbara Carroll, the elegant jazz pianist, composer and vocalist, has long been regarded as one of the most fascinating purveyors of swinging jazz piano and rhythmic, expressive vocals. She and her longtime musical partner, the bassist Jay Leonhart, are fluent in several musical languages, from semiclassical to bebop. In the few years since she has taken up singing, Ms. Carroll has established herself as a custodian of Mabel Mercer's parlando style of wise, musical storytelling.
