B&W Printing: The Next Level June 2, 2011

This course is perfect for students with previous darkroom experience that are seeking to refine their printing skills and gain more control over the final look of their photographs. Participants will be introduced to advanced darkroom techniques to make higher quality silver prints. Participants will also use these skills to begin introducing subjective and expressive elements into the images and make the prints speak as you intend.

The class will introduce techniques such as burning & dodging, pre-flashing, & split-filter printing and will demonstrate how these tools can be combined effectively in various situations. Students will develop their eye for tone, learn to visualize their final prints, and come to understand the steps needed to get there.
