'El Gueguense,' performed by Ballet Folklorico Nicaraguense, is one of the oldest indigenous theatrical/dance works of the Western Hemisphere, written in the 16th century in the Nahuatl and Spanish languages and symbolises the resistance to the Spanish culture imposed on the indigenous people.
