Balinese Gendèr Wayang Quartet
Seka Rat Nadi comprises four musicians performing on a quartet of keyed metallophones, one of the most important and sacred gamelan ensembles from the island of Bali, Indonesia. Gender wayang music is commonly used to accompany shadow puppet plays (wayang kulit), as well as various religious ceremonies where music is essential to ritual efficacy. This concert will feature an introduction to, and selections from, the traditional repertoire.
