Bajaj Capital Art House Launches A Physical Gallery Space To Promote Young Talent May 11, 2010

New Delhi: Leading art advisory group, Bajaj Capital Art House (BCAH), now launches a physical gallery space with two new ventures – Gallery Art Positive, a unit of BCAH and Cafe'artarea, an art book café at F-213/B, Old MB Road, Lado Sarai, New Delhi. The launch on May 11, 2010 will also witness a group exhibition by young artists titled ‘Art Spotting’ and the felicitation of Haribabu Natesan from Mumbai, who is the first recipient of the Bajaj Capital Art House Artist Fellowship 2010 award.

Anu Bajaj, Director, Art Positive, a unit of BCAH, says, “Using both the gallery space and the art cafe, BCAH will hold a series of interactive events in art appreciation as a holistic experience for connoisseurs, collectors, artists, and business leaders. Face to face encounters with master artists as well as promising young artists will be hosted. An exclusive art advisory and collectible, high quality, authentic art works of high aesthetic merit and market value will also be sourced and displayed in the pleasant ambience of Art Positive.”
NEW GALLERY @ LADO SARAI

Art Positive, a unit of BCAH, the new art gallery at Lado Sarai aims to focus on hosting curated solo and group exhibitions of seminal and cutting edge art in varied modes, media and prices by young and established artists from across the country.

FIRST ART BOOK CAFÉ @ LADO SARAI

Cafe'artarea is an art book-café launched by Art Positive, a unit of BCAH to create a lively ambience and comfortable reading space for art collectors, art practitioners, art connoisseurs, educationists and art lovers where various thoughts and ideas relating to art can be discussed over coffee. The gallery also proposes to hold book launches, discussions, workshops and presentations here.

Types of books available:- art magazines, journals, coffee table books and catalogues.
ART SPOTTING: GROUP EXHIBITION

Art Positive, a unit of BCAH presents Art Spotting, a group exhibition by young artists selected by an eminent jury. Prints, installations, digital work, site specific, public and other art forms will be seen along with paintings and sculptures. The exhibition will be on till June 30, 2010.
The participating artists are Haribabu Natesan (the first winner of BCAH Artist Fellowship Award, 2010 that was announced last year), Arijoy Bhattacharya (son of eminent artist Sanjay Bhattacharya), Pradip Sengupta, Vanshika Sharma, Mukul Mishra, Satadru Sovan Bandhuri, Rajesh Kr Sharma, Jignesh Panchal, Aadhi Vishal, Babita Kanhere, Gopal Sharma, Kumar Ranjan, Shovin Bhattacharjee, Siddharth Pansari, Santosh Andani, Sandeep Jigdung and Sreejata Roy with her partner Mrityunjay Chatterjee. The jury members comprised of Anupam Sud (eminent artist and educationist), renowned sculptor K.S. Radhakrishnan and artist Sanjay Bhattacharya.

Says Sushma Bahl, curator: “Art Spotting hints at the direction in which contemporary Indian art is heading as it moves apace in rhythm with the fast changing world scenario. Its varied creative modes, mediums, palettes and appearances on the one hand reverberate through cultural roots and on the other engage with new age ideas, encounters and issues ranging from personal to political. It embraces committed young artists from smaller and semi rural Indian cities as well as from larger metros with enough space, scale and scope to enable each one to articulate his/her creativity in more open, innovative and bold expressions.”
BCAH ARTIST FELLOWSHIP AWARD, 2010
Haribabu Natesan, an artist from Mumbai, was unanimously chosen for the fellowship by the eminent jury that consisted of artist and educationist Anupam Sud, renowned sculptor K.S. Radhakrishnan, artist Sanjay Bhattacharya, curator and art consultant Sushma Bahl and Anu Bajaj (Director, Art Positive, a unit of BCAH).

A postgraduate in Animation Film Design from NID, Ahmedabad, Haribabu quit his job in the design industry to pursue his artistic passion individually. His work that makes creative use of found and searched electronic waste material stands out as a fine example of assimilation of art/craft, design/fine art, heart/hand and old/new. Haribabu plans to use the grant for his research and assemblage of material to prepare a substantial body of new work for the solo show accompanied by a catalogue projected for 2011 at Art Positive.
