Sustainability Planning Training Opportunity for Small Businesses

The Back to BASICs Training Program for Small Businesses is being offered in Cochrane, Alberta this spring. The program walks participants through the process of

• finding the value of sustainability planning,
• setting a sustainability vision and goals,
• identifying their current sustainability footprint,
• developing an action plan to integrate sustainability into their products, services, and operations in a strategic way,
• implementing their plan throughout the business, and
• communicating their success to stakeholders.

The program consists of 4 workshops that are delivered over 3 months. By the end of the program participants will have developed a sustainability plan for their company or organization.

An Experiential Learning Opportunity

This program is delivered in workshop style as participants not only learn about the sustainability planning for small businesses, they actually work through each step and gain valuable experience.

Building Capacity

Rather than prescribing to a set of pre-determined actions, this program teaches businesses to find the value of sustainability for their specific company. This value will be different for each business depending on their industry, their size, their current impacts, and the values of their stakeholders. This program teaches businesses HOW to plan for sustainability and implement a meaningful action plan. Gaining this knowledge and experience will help businesses adapt to ever changing pressures and concerns from environmental, social, and economic factors.
