117 S. West St.
Raleigh, North Carolina 27601

It's a night of music, stripped down to the basics – only an instrument or two mingling with each songwriter's powerful lyrics on the V21 stage. Go beyond the songs that are essentially a three-minute chorus and take a listen to three of the Raleigh area's most talented songwriters.

Showtime is 8 p.m., and this will be a seated, general-admission show. All tickets are $8 and available at the door - content is suitable for music lovers of all ages.

• Alisa Turner (http://www.myspace.com/alisaturner), is a pianist/songwriter from right here in Raleigh. Her undying passion for writing and performing sparked a friendship with Robbie Seay of The Robbie Seay Band. From Oct. 2005 to Feb. 2006, Alisa and Robbie recorded a new EP – a remarkable blend of Fiona Apple, Sarah McLachlan and others.

• In the music of Sam Fisher (http://www.samsongs.com), one can clearly make out the stylings of such soul wonders as Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield. Sam’s smooth, liquid crooning and his effortlessly powerful, emotive voice and vast range could easily be compared to modern icons the likes of Lenny Kravitz or Seal. Sam has shared the stage with such acclaimed artists as John Mayer, Josh Kelly, Nelly Furtado, Edwin McCain, and Gavin Degraw.

• Mike Roy (http://www.myspace.com/themikeroyshow) started writing songs in middle school to impress girls. It worked somewhat, even though he was a terrible songwriter for many years. He's gotten better, he thinks. Follow the link above to hear a couple tracks from his second solo album. There is a third one slowly brewing, with the hopes of an early 2009 release. Come hear some of his new material at this rare solo performance!
