Celebrate ancient Babylon and modern Iraq with music, fashion & film in the Great Court, photography in the lecture theatre and poetry, music & readings in the galleries. Try a first lesson in Arabic, join calligraphy and art workshops and attend gallery talks.

As part of BABYLON LATE, see the screening of 3 short documentary films made by students at Independent Film & Television College in Baghdad (www.iftvc.org). This free-of-charge film- training centre is funded by donations and grants and was set up in 2004 by 2 London-based filmmakers of Iraqi origin. In a dangerous, volatile situation, it has managed to run 3 courses and produce 11 films, of which a number have won prizes at international film festivals. These short films depict the life of ordinary Iraqis in a way rarely seen in the mainstream media.

Films will be shown in a 50-seater marquee in the Great Court, north side at 18.45 and repeated at 19.45
A Stranger in his own Country (Hasanain Al Hani) (10 minutes)
Dr Nabil (Ahmed Jabbar) (15 minutes)
