Babes With Blades: Romeo & Juliet April 30, 2011

Featuring an all female cast, 'Romeo & Juliet' is the company's second Shakespeare production following the success of their all female 'Macbeth' in 2009. This time, Babes With Blades takes on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers and has set the production in Italy's late 19th century Liberal Period, prior to the Fascist takeover. Featured combat will include rapier and dagger. According to director Brian LaDuca, "Giving the time and place a factual identity allows all on stage to play against the social, economical, and political stresses of such a dynamic period in the world." He adds, "I think a true place and time allows the audience to have true and honest reactions."
