The next THREE weekends in addition to some regular silent film showings on Saturday nights we are also showcasing not one, but three, current indie film productions and film makers - people who have been mavericks in their field (the term was over-used last year but it really means something here!)

Indie films in Niles (Fremont, CA) during June! What a month!

Sunday, June 14 7:00 pm: John Korty is the one credited by Lucas and Coppola for being the influence that caused them to locate here in the Bay Area rather than elsewhere. As well, he has won Oscars and Emmys and other countless awards for his film making. He will be showing film clips of his work and talking about life as an independent film maker.

Friday, June 19 8:00 pm Les Blank is a well-known documentarian who has had some of his films selected for the National Film Registry for preservation for future generations - he has also won numerous Grand Prizes at film festivals world-wide.

Sunday, June 21 4:00 pm: Scary Cow is a oddly-named consortium of folks with day jobs who have become film makers creating comedies, dramas and like - shorts and features!

This is also along with the awesome Broncho Billy silent film festival on June 26-28, this years theme of early independent companies - they started out with names like Lasky and Imp but are now known as Paramount, Fox, Metro Goldwn Mayer, Universal!
