Avalon String Quartet, one of the country’s leading chamber music ensembles, is joined by guest pianist William Koehler for a diverse program of American music in "American Voices." The Quartet’s current season of the Chicago Concert Series has explored different intersections of the string quartet and the human voice, with each concert examining this relationship from a different perspective. The "American Voices" program is this season’s third and final concert and features the Chicago Premiere of "Aqua" by Harold Meltzer, along with Steve Reich’s novel 'speech melody' work, "Different Trains," Amy Beach’s Piano Quintet, and Augusta Read Thomas’ "Fugitive Star."
