The images that make up AUTO-CHROMATIC are meant to transport us back in time: back to the days of going to the drive-in movies in your pj’s, riding to the arcade in the bed of a pickup truck, standing on a running board yelling out a fire truck siren call, sitting in a rumble seat cruising the strip, play driving in a parked car, and learning to drive a stick and begging the light to stay green. These are just a few of my own memories that surface as I photograph classic cars, and it is my hope that the images evoke memories for everyone and inspire the automobile dreams of youngsters. I am thrilled to be showing this work at Lucky Ju Ju - the marriage of vintage pinball machines and classic cars photos is a match made in heaven and AUTO-CHROMATIC opening the weekend of the 15th Annual Park Street Classic Car Show is nothing short of a dream come true.

Angela Borges is a resident of Alameda and AUTO-CHROMATIC is her first Alameda exhibit. Angela’s interest in vintage/classic cars started at an early age and some of her favorites were a ‘58 Chevy Apache, a ‘51 Dodge pickup, three Novas from the 70’s and a bright orange ‘69 GMC pickup. The documentary film Yank Tanks and at least one song by almost every musical artist in her library further inspired this work. Angela’s interest in photography began in high school when she worked as a portrait photographer at JCPenney’s Lifetouch portrait studio and has grown over the years to include travel, nature and wildlife photography in addition to vintage/classic car photography.
