The Pendleton Community Public Library, 595 East Water Street, will sponsor an author’s reception and book signing event for award-winning Pendleton writer, Heather Swain on Saturday, August 9th at 10:00 a.m. in the library’s Community Room. In 2005, Heather’s book Luscious Lemon was awarded Best Fiction Book of the Year by the Indiana State Library Center for the Book.

Ms. Swain’s talk will be entitled Turning Passion into Possibility: How to Become a Published Writer. She will be reading from her forthcoming novel called Me, My Elf, and I that will be published in the spring. Her discussion will include how a Pendleton girl ended up a writer in New York City.

Heather grew up on State Street in Pendleton and graduated from PHHS in 1987 before completing her B.A. and M.A. from Indiana University. She now lives in New York with her husband and two young children. She returns to Pendleton often, spending time with her family.

Admission to the workshop is free and open to the public. RSVPs are appreciated. Call the library at (765) 778-7527 or email [email protected] if you plan to attend.

Can’t make the reception? Heather will be teaching two classes for the South Madison School Corporation from August 4 - August 9. Call the school for more information.
