Dito Montiel recounts his hard knocks, hard lessons, and hard life in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints: A Memoir. Rising out of Queens, running for gangs before becoming a model for Versace and Calvin Klein. Montiel, the leader of the punk band Gutterboy, pays homage to the saints who helped him survive. His book has become a major motion picture starring Robert Downey Jr., opening on September 29th. Montiel directed the film and received an award at the Sundance Film Festival.
