Author Chang-rae Lee will give a reading and discuss his new book, The Surrendered, at The Seattle Public Library, Central Library. The Surrendered tells a story about the lasting effects of war, taking place in 1930s China, 1950s Korea and New York and Italy in the 1980s. Lee is the author of A Gesture Life, the featured book of the 2003 Seattle Reads program. His first novel, Native Speaker, won the PEN/Hemingway Award. Lee teaches creative writing at Princeton University. This program is presented in partnership with The Elliott Bay Book Co. Books will be available for purchase and signing. The program is free and open to the public. Tickets and reservations are not required. Limited parking in the Central Library garage is available for a $5 special event rate.
