The world-beat-punk-funk powerhouse Auktyon from St. Petersburg, Russia have been tearing roofs off continental Europe's clubs since the early 80's, back in the day when Soviet rock musicians were paid salary by the government and had their tours booked by the KGB. Collapse of the old country took them to a new territory called America, where they were quick to establish cult fandom enclaves in Portland and NYC. Auktyon have toured the States for almost 10 years now, playing out collapse of the old regime in purely musical, non-political language that speaks in tongues of jazz, funk-punk, and various beat centric ethnic influences resulting in distinctly their own sound. Everyone dances at Auktyon shows, under attack of the yelping saxes, riveting percussion, and the low low bounces and drones of the bass and tuba, as the lead singer Leonid Federov produces sweet swoons over the shivery riffs of his twangy guitar.
