Attaining Equilibrium in Marriage Roles November 23, 2012

Traditionally, men and women have different assigned roles and responsibilities to play and discharge in a family. In modern times, there are certain expectations and ideals of what a husband and wife should do and be responsible for in their marriage. Often, these expectations and ideals are influenced by observing how our parents function in their marriage, and by our cultural, social and racial background. With the rapid changes that we are experiencing in this world, some of these basic roles played by married men and women traditionally have changed. Couples need to clarify what they expect from one another and develop a common style of working together in the marriage.

Through this session, you will:
1) Understand the differences between these roles
2) Discover each other’s expectation and perception towards marriage
3) Learn how to accommodate and accept each other’s ideals and expectations in a marriage

Speaker’s Profile: Mr Michael Tiew

Mr. Michael Tiew is currently a social worker from FaithActs. He has over 14 years of experience in the social service sector practising as a professional social worker, trainer, facilitator and educator. He has worked with children, youths and families. He has also been providing supportive and emotional counselling, organising support groups, and conducting talks and workshops.
