For our last meeting in August, Phoenix Objectivists will host a public viewing of video lectures of prominent speakers as they discuss the impact of "Atlas Shrugged" and Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism on the world.

It was an extraordinary day to celebrate an extraordinary novel! On October 6, 2007, hundreds gathered in Washington, D.C., to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of Ayn Rand's signature novel, Atlas Shrugged.

Since its publication, Ayn Rand’s "Atlas Shrugged" has inspired millions. We will watch the second part of a meeting of scholars, experts and achievers who discuss the literary, philosophical, moral, economic and political aspects of this great novel and its impact on our world–past, present and future.

Opening remarks will be made by Atlas Society Advocacy Director Edward Hudgins, followed by author and Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund who will introduce the panelists.

Then Competitive Enterprise Institute President Fred Smith will give a lecture entitled "Atlas and Politics", Cato Institute President Edward Crane will discuss "Atlas and the Fight for Freedom" and finally Ed Hudgins will lecture on "Atlas and the Future of Objectivism".

After all of the speakers have finished they will field questions from the audience.

After we finish watching the video, we will discuss the points brought up in it. Running time will be 1 hour and 20 minutes.
