Atlantic Yards Presentation at the Four Borough Neighborhood Preservation Alliance Meeting July 30, 2008

The press often refers to Bruce Ratner's mega-development proposal for Prospect Heights as the "most controversial" development project in New York City. Did community pressure stop this project? Or was it a slowing economy? Is the project dead or undead?

There are many questions that have yet to be resolved, so our upcoming Four Borough meeting will not answer all of them. We will give a chance for the good people of Queens and other members of the sensible development community to hear from some of the actors in this epic battle.

Come next Wednesday to hear from two representatives of the Council of Brooklyn Neighborhoods (CBN). This is one of the only groups that includes both Develop Don't Destroy-Brooklyn as well as elected officials who want to improve but not prevent the project.

CBN is a very interesting model for civic groups around town, especially since it has been busy advocating for the UNITY proposal, a community-based alternative to the Ratner vision for Prospect Heights.
