Leslie Dworkin and Darla Stanley (choreographers) with Laurie Olinder (Visual Designer) - "New Choreographic Works"

Leslie Dworkin has choreographed, taught, and performed internationally for the past 15 years, and was an artist in residence in Puebla, Mexico, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Jacob’s Pillow, and the Joyce SoHo. She has performed the choreography of internationally recognized artists, including Ralph Lemon, Maureen Fleming, Kei Takei, and Bebe Miller, and Philadelphia’s Leah Stein, and Melanie Stewart. “Dworkin moves like silk” (ArtsHouston) and her uniquely fluid dance pieces have garnered choreographic support from the Pew Charitable Trusts, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Movement Research, Djerassi, and the Susan Hess Choreographers Project. She has taught as a guest artist in many dance departments including UCLA, UNCG/Greensboro, Oberlin College, Ohio University, and is currently adjunct faculty at UT/Austin. Leslie has an MFA in Choreography from Temple University and is a certified Trager bodywork practitioner.

Darla Stanley is a freelance dance maker, performer, and teacher. She has performed her choreography and the work of others internationally in Dresden, Berlin, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Poland, Romania, and Edinburgh with ZeroMoving, Chris Burnside and Dancers, Karen Bamonte Dance Works, Melanie Stewart Dance Theatre, and Leah Stein Dance. In 2004 British choreographer Siobhan Davies featured Darla in the Philadelphia Bank Project.  In 2003 the Philadelphia Fringe Festival awarded her a Rockette for “Dancer Whose Skills You’d Most Like to Have.” Most recently Darla choreographed Nomadic Still and Undoing Measures on Washington D.C. based Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance.  Darla has taught modern dance in professional studios, colleges and universities along the East Coast, and received funding from the PEW Charitable Trusts, Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Susan Hess Choreographer’s Project, and Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism.
