A Festival of Unlikely Spectacles

Over two days, visitors of all ages can experience some strange and wonderful things. Free and family-friendly, this is your chance to see the new Centre, with plenty to do whether you drop in for a five-minute peek or take a couple of hours to explore the delights within. Food and drink available to purchase.

Professor Hildeberg’s Hibernating Antarctic Zoo

What lies behind the doors of the thermostatic vivariums (or fridges, to you and me)?
Renowned naturalist and explorer, Professor Hans Hildeberg claims to have discovered a wide variety of Antarctic creatures never before seen by mankind.
Until now. See the creatures in their hibernating state, before they’re returned to their natural habitats.
In groups of 20, you will enjoy a brief presentation, before undertaking an induction procedure to ensure the wellbeing of both visitors and creatures. You are then free to wander around the zoo examining the creatures in their thermostatic vivariums.
Zoo guides will inform and explain at every stage. "From the introductory film, through our induction, complete with the donning of protective clothing, to the hibernating oddities in their chill cabinets, this is a meticulously detailed, twinklingly humorous whimsy that melds Barnum and Bailey with David Attenborough."

All-day Cartoon Cinema

The cartoon cinema will be screening classics from the Looney Tunes stable, featuring family favourites such as Bugs Bunny, Wile E Coyote, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig.
