A new Arts Cafe monthly music series at the Oshman Family Jewish Community kicks off with Jake Oken-Berg, the lead singer and pianist for the Portland-based band The Retrofits. Oken-Berg's first solo album, "Find Love," was released in 2009 by Aram Records. His music combines jazz and pop piano styles with powerful vocals and has been compared to Ben Folds, The Fray and Coldplay. Oken-Berg will be joined by one of the west coast's top guitarists, Jason Barlow, for a full hour and a half of original music.

Arts Cafe will bring contemporary music to the South Peninsula in an informal setting. Scheduled for the first Thursday of every month, these concerts are for anyone interested in listening to dynamic musicians play original music in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. The Arts Cafe series will be held in the JCC's Albert and Janet Schultz Cultural Arts Hall on the Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life.
