18th Street Arts Center presents “ArtNight” at 18th Street,” a bi-annual free art and music event, on Saturday, April 12, 6:00 – 9:00pm at 18th Street Arts Center, 1639 18th Street, Santa Monica, north of Olympic Blvd. This edition features gallery receptions, free concerts, site-specific art installations, artist open studios, and a market corner. ArtNight is sponsored by the Santa Monica City Cultural Affairs Division, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Crossroads School of Arts and Sciences, IZZE, and Hpnotiq. Promotions provided by Artillery magazine and Tu Ciudad magazine.

MUSIC: World Stage - LA’s African American poetic and musical ensemble comes to Santa Monica hosted by Michael Datcher, with spoken word by Mr. Foster, jazz performer Hillard Street, and neo-soul / jazz by Nailah.

EXHIBITIONS: 100% Other: Artists and Psycho-Demographic Transitions, Curated by Tyler Stallings – An art exhibition that tracks the connection and separations between our changing cultural landscape and our oftentimes lagging civic outcomes. Artists Include: Matthew Bryant, Cheryl Gilge, Perry Vasquez, Reggie Woolery, and Yasuko, as well as “Rich”, an installation in the project room by Kyungmi Shin, 18th Street 2008 artist fellow.

OPEN STUDIOS: New and recent works by 18th Street Artists-in-Residence

Marketing Corner: Participating organizations include: SPARC, Virginia Avenue Park, New Playwrights Foundation, Artillery Magazine, Tu Ciudad Magazine Bar hosted by HPNOTIQ and IZZE sparkling juice.
