03/05/2008 8:00 PM - The Canal Room
285 W Broadway (@ Canal), New York, New York

ARTISTS YOU SHOULD KNOW: Kristin Diable, Amber Rubarth & Anna Nyakana!! The Canal Room is a hip yet cozy venue, something in between Joes Pub and The Living Room. Show starts @ 8:00pm (doors 7:30pm). $10 at the door. The bill features three captivating up & coming songwriters hailing from Louisiana to California.

"It's remarkable to learn that Kristin Diable is only 22-years of age. Having only started writing songs six years ago everything she embodies screams of a time since passed and her music is the perfect example - her 60's Folk/Blues/Soul influence is immediately distinguishable. Each beautifully conveyed line spills forth from her lips like sweet strawberry wine. A resplendent story-teller without fault, every song is like a hammer-blow to your senses, evoking images of Louisiana traditions and tales. You can take the girl out of the South but you can't take the South out of the girl- and what a wonderful thing that is. Diable has recently signed with The Orchard, the largest digital distributor of independent music, and will soon be releasing a live record." - Joel Crane (NME, Q, Mojo)

"Every so often an artist arrives with a lyrical ability to convey the simplest of things. With Amber Rubarth it's all in the detail. Refreshingly unique in her styling, Rubarth has built
an eclectic collection of songs from the fun and frivolous to the raw
and destructive - her voice knows no bounds where genre is concerned.
But it's in her lyrics where the most satisfaction is found. Inspired
by the works of Paul Simon and Leonard Cohen, her musings on life are delightful in their innocence and have the capacity to appeal to the
most diverse audience. It's this very trait that bodes for a very
promising future in which Rubarth will continue to break moulds."
