THEATRE/San Francisco
Through May 30th
?BATS Improv Long-Form Festival?

From spaceships to Shakespeare, this month-long improv festival celebrates a unique form of improvisational theatre.

Long-form improv is different from the short, quick, comedy improv skits in TV programs like ?Saturday Night Live? and ?Whose Line is it Anyway??.

The experience of watching a long-form improv show is more like watching a full-length play or movie ? except it?s made up on the spot, with no pre-planning.

The BATS festival features 11 performances, including improvised shows in such genres like film noir, swashbuckler, and family drama. It includes performances by guest groups ?Start Trekkin?, ?Un-scripted Theatre Company?, ?True Fiction Magazine?, and ?3 For All?.

Highlights:

May 14: The crew of ?Start Trekkin'? embarks on a hilarious voyage of galactic non-importance. ?Start Trekkin? warps your imagination with a completely improvised story set in the world of the original classic ?Star Trek? television series.

May 22: ?Bawdy Shakespeare?: Double entendre reigns supreme in this improvised Shakespearean romp, improvised by villainous rump-fed lewdsters and clouted earth-vexing miscreants.

May 27, 28: ?Instant Film?: They haven?t got a script. Or a plot. Or a clue. A long-form improv free-for-all which is just what it says it is ? an instant film, driven by audience suggestion. Bring popcorn, and be prepared for damn near anything.
