This is the second time Evelia Porto has brought a Hispanic art show to Art Works, the first in 2008 on a small scale and now she has organized 13 artists to celebrate Women in the Arts. The title of the exhibit is Hispanic Artists Celebrate La Mujer. In this exhibit the Hispanic women artists showcase their work and the Hispanic men artists showcase their work about women. The exhibit is bi-lingual in that the labels for each piece will be in Spanish and English. Each piece of artwork will explain some component of Hispanic life, language, symbolism and culture with which the viewer can actively participate. Each of the thirteen artists will share their artistic view and some of the special attributes of their birth country. On opening night, April 23rd, guests will enjoy Hispanic style refreshments and learn some of the mysteries about women, methods, customs and culture from the Hispanic posture.

The opening reception is April 23rd from 7pm – 10pm with music by Deep Fried Mojo. The exhibits continue through May 23, 2010. Exhibits are free and open to the public.

Featuring these new exhibits: HISPANIC ARTISTS CELEBRATE LA MUJER, APRIL 2010 ALL MEDIA SHOW juried by Sarah Masters, RECENT WORK by MARTI FANN, and VINNIE GONZALEZ, CREATING LOVE PART DEUX by Scott and Rosana Haugh, and PORTOBELO by Geraldine Keifer.
