Before there was Maus, there was Breakdowns, a small press collection of Spiegelman's work during the 1970's. Now legendary, Spiegelman reintroduces that influential 1978 collection with a new introduction and a concluding essay that reflects on his life as drug-addled young cartoonist in the 60's and the transformations that led to his breakdowns.
