Premiere Art of Wine festival offers free music, art and affordable wine tasting in the Carmel Arts & Design District
CARMEL, Ind. — On Saturday, Aug. 1, the Carmel Arts & Design District will debut a new signature summer event that will entice wine connoisseurs, music lovers and art aficionados alike.
From 5 to 10 p.m., the District will kick off The Art of Wine, a festival that will bring nine Indiana wineries to Old Town Carmel in a celebration of Indiana vintages and art inspired by wine. Attendees will also be treated to a free concert by Indiana singer-songwriter Jennie DeVoe. The celebrated local indie performer will take the stage for an outdoor performance at 6 p.m.
Through this unique new event, guests 21 and over can sample vintage wines for only $15. The first 5,000 wine-tasting participants will also receive a souvenir wine glass. A photo ID is required to participate in the wine tasting.

Participating wineries include:
Chateau Thomas Winery
Grape Inspirations Winery
Mallow Run Winery
Oliver Winery
Best Vineyard Winery
Winzerwald Winery
Huber’s Orchard, Winery & Vineyard
Ferrin’s Fruit Winery
Buck Creek Winery
Many of the District’s shops and galleries will host special sales or exhibits reflecting the event’s theme — and some will even bring the Art of Wine to the already colorful District streetscape by displaying huge, custom-designed Nebuchadnezzar wine bottles decorated by local artists.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to showcase our exciting artists and galleries alongside equally exciting Hoosier wines,” said Sherry Mielke of the Carmel Arts & Design District. “Many art lovers also appreciate experiencing new wines, and we think this event will be a perfect pairing for those visitors.”
The Art of Wine will also invite guests to explore the many dining options and edibles available in downtown’s Carmel’s unique eateries. A full spectrum of dishes from local restaurants will be available for purchase streetside, including Mudbugs Cajun Café bayou treats, Bub’s burgers and more.
The event coincides with the nearby Crooked Stick Golf Club’s hosting of the U.S. Senior Open, a national golfing event expected to bring nearly 150,000 fans to Carmel, Ind., throughout the week of activities.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to show our out-of-town guests the caliber of art and wine available here in Indiana,” said Mielke. “We think The Art of Wine will provide an appealing way to learn more about central Indiana and all it has to offer.”

Parking is available at the Carmel Lions Club parking lot, the Indiana Design Center parking garage, and other public parking areas, as well as on-street parking in the District.
