This conference, being held from May 23-26, will begin to address the complex issues of research in service design, planning, delivery, and innovation. Academics who have a demonstrated interest in services and transdisciplinary research will work with service industry practitioners to identify the key challenges that service managers are now facing.

This year’s conference will begin to address the complex issues of research in service design, planning, delivery, and innovation. Our theme this year is “Designing for Innovation in Services.” Academics who have a demonstrated interest in services and transdisciplinary research will work with service industry practitioners to identify the key challenges that service managers are now facing. We are very excited about this event, which will gather a select group of researchers and practitioners to analyze and discuss the present and future of the art and science of services. Guest participants from different industries and academic disciplines will provide a rich environment in which we can explore new ideas and expand our view of services management and research.

The 3rd Conference on the Art and Science of Services is being held jointly with the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) Miniconference on Service Science. This miniconference is open to all who are interested in advancing understanding and theory in Service Science. It will be held on May 24-26, 2007 at Carnegie Mellon University. It will begin Thursday evening, May 24 with a joint reception, and is expected to end early Saturday afternoon, May 26.
